Butler Health System officials say the coronavirus pandemic has led to major financial losses.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Rottinghaus provided an update at Wednesday’s county commissioner’s meeting and said that the health system is looking at $40 million in losses.
“So far just the expenditures on modifications of offices and procedures, we’ve spent in between $10 million to $10.5 million,” Rottinghaus said. “In addition to that, by delaying procedures by stopping one of our biggest sources of revenue–things we do to get people back to work and back to life– has cost us $30 million.”
Because of those losses, Rottinghaus said he was very appreciative of the county commissioners approving the nearly $770,000 loan from federal CARES Act funding.
