The Butler Area School District is increasing pay for substitute teachers and also keeping in place a program to encourage retention of bus drivers.
At their Monday night meeting the Butler School Board approved a $5 per day raise through their substitute provider Educational Staffing Solutions which brings Butler’s total rate to $105 per day.
Although they acknowledge that this rate is still in the bottom half of districts in Butler County, administrators informed the board that another increase could be made if necessary. Butler last increased their substitute pay rate in 2019.
After having problems with transportation at the beginning of last year, Butler began offering a stipend of $15 per driver per day over and above normal pay beginning in October. This offer was an effective incentive to keep drivers so the district is continuing that policy for the upcoming school year.
Those interested in taking advantage of this offer as a Butler school bus driver should call the Valley Lines bus company for more information (724-287-0003).
