The City of Butler is supporting efforts to be nationally recognized as a World War Two Heritage City.
During their Thursday night meeting, City Council approved a motion to submit a letter of support in connection with a nomination by the Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau.
“The American World War II Heritage City program is designed to recognize and ensure the continued preservation and importance of the United States involvement in World War II,” Councilman Jeff Smith said.
The National Parks Service is choosing one city from each state and Butler’s nomination will make a case for the creation of the Jeep as a driving factor in the success of America in World War II.
