A Butler man is facing charges after being accused of abusing his wife for nearly 20 years.
The alleged mental and physical abuse began in 2007 and continued until the victim reported an incident that happened on Route 68 back in January.
Police say 41-year-old Justin Popa was driving and threatened to drive into oncoming traffic. Popa is also accused of taking a gun out and placing it against his head, threatening to shoot himself while driving and children where in the vehicle.
According to charging documents, Popa threatened the victim that if she went to the police, he would kill the children in front of her.
Popa has been placed in the Butler County Prison, his bail was set at $25,000 and he’s facing several charges including fours counts of endangering the welfare of children.
