A Butler native who played a role in creating memorable nationwide marketing campaigns has died.
Carl Yankowski passed away at Butler Memorial Hospital over the weekend. He was a Butler Senior High School graduate in 1966. He then went to MIT and got degrees in both electrical engineering and management.
Yankowski’s career spanned 30 years working for well-known companies like Procter & Gamble, General Electric, Pepsi, and more. He also served as the Chief Executive Officer for Palm, Inc., which specialized in developing the personal digital assistant, also known as PDAs. Palm, Inc. was also the designer of the Palm Pilot.
One of his more notable campaigns was helping to develop Memorex’s “Is It Live or Is IT Memorex.”
He was also recognized as a distinguished graduate of Butler High School in 1999.
Yankowski was 73.
