Amid the ongoing state budget stalemate and with no end in sight, the Butler Area School District will soon begin preparations to borrow necessary funding.
According to Butler Superintendent Dr. Brian White, in about two weeks the district will reach out to their banking partners to begin the process of securing a tax anticipation note.
The board would then need to take action to approve the loan in December so that funding would be in place by January when the district anticipates running out of money to pay for expenses.
If no budget is in place by the end of 2025, Butler Area School District would be owed about $29 million by the state and would have missed out on nearly $1 million in interest from the funds not being held in district accounts since July 1st.
