Crews are working to put the finishing touches on an extensive construction project at the Butler Senior High School before students arrive in just over a week.
A new 500 wing connects the cafeteria with gymnasium along the former covered walkway to provide space for world languages, JROTC and Tech Ed classes.
Delays with material shortages caused the project to drag on for nearly a year after the original anticipated date of completion but crews are now finishing tiling and instillation of doors as well as pouring asphalt for the new back loop driveway next week.
The project also includes the addition of new fume and dust collectors for shop classes, larger activity lockers for students in need of space for equipment, and a line of single room bathrooms which administrators believe could reduce some discipline issues.
Superintendent Dr. Brian White is planning an open house gathering at the new facility for any community members Homecoming Weekend. Butler students in 9th through 12th grades begin classes at the Senior High School August 29th.
