The Butler Transit Authority is moving forward with a major project to construct a new bus wash building at their Hollywood Drive facility.
Board members approved four contracts totaling just over $4.2 million for the construction of a 4,000 square foot building.
Funding for this project comes from the state and includes GEM Contractors handling general trades for $3.5 million, Renick Bothers taking care of the mechanical and plumbing aspects for $245,000, and Alderson Crawford Electric receiving $413,000 to accomplish electrical. This price also includes all equipment necessary as well as converting the old bus wash, which has been damaged by corrosion, to storage.
Construction is expected to begin soon with the hope that it will be ready for use before next winter.
