The Butler Transit Authority and the company they contract with to provide drivers are prepared for the likely local spread of coronavirus.
The Authority heard about measures taken by MV Transportation including a detailed operations plan directing buses to be disinfected regularly, hot-lines established, fliers distributed, contingency plans made, and CDC directives followed. This information will be posted to the BTA website.
The Authority also discussed a request received Monday by VA Butler Healthcare that VA Security personnel be allowed onto buses going to the Butler VA to ask riders screening questions about possible exposure to coronavirus.
On the advice of their solicitor, the Authority declined that request and suggested that bus service could be eliminated to the VA however the VA decided to do their screening once riders have left the bus. As a result, service to VA facilities will continue.
A notice about the screenings has been posted on all buses with stops at the VA so that riders know what to expect.
