The Butler Transit Authority is making some route reductions as a result of health issues with bus drivers.
The Authority’s Executive Director John Paul informed the board Tuesday night that local service Routes 5 and 2/4 will not operate until further notice.
Paul went on to say that commuter service has been reduced to one run on Route 8 and one on Route 68 (Commuter Routes 2 and 3). Regular commuter service could be restored by Monday.
The cause of this reduction is a shortage of healthy drivers with the authority’s contractor.
“BTA’s subcontractor MV only has four available drivers for the whole system; commuter and local. So we only have four drivers and we have seven routes,” Paul said. “Can’t do it.”
Full service will be restored if alternate options present themselves as soon as possible.
