A longtime Butler Township Commissioner was honored for his service to the community Monday night.
After 16 years, Sam Zurzolo received a certificate of appreciation as part of his final meeting as a Township Commissioner.
His fellow commissioners spoke about his wisdom as a teacher who set an example through his years of service on a variety of local volunteer projects. Zurzolo pointed to Abie Abraham as someone he admired in his desire to care for veterans and children.
Zurzolo will continue to serve on the Butler Township Planning Commission.
