Butler Township is continuing with the process of securing state grant funding for projects connected to the recreation property at Pullman Business Park.
At their meeting Monday night, Butler Township Commissioners approved two resolutions connected to applications for grants from the Department of Community and Economic Development.
The first grant through the Multimodal Transportation Fund would be used to pay for transportation enhancements for the roadways that access the property in the amount of $1.85 million with a 50% local match. A previous grant request to PennDOT for this project was not approved.
The township is also pursuing a Greenways and Trails grant in the amount of $250,000 to help pay for a rubberized walkway around the Pullman recreation property. The walkway would be approximately a half mile long and this project includes a 15% local match.
These grant applications are due at the end of this month and then also in July so the Township does not expect to hear back until later in the year.
