Local residents could soon see a more reliable drinking water system as a result of plans approved by the Butler Township Planning Commission Tuesday night.
Representatives of PA American Water provided information about a Booster Substation replacement planned for a property off Portman Road that is owned by West Penn Power.
A 312-square foot building with parking would replace an old one pump booster station located underground with an updated primary and backup pump as well as a pump dedicated to fire hydrants and a generator.
This plan will next move to the Butler Township Commissioners for final approval later this month and if all permits are in order, the project will begin soon after with a completion goal of five to six months.
