Butler Township commissioners are moving forward with filling the position of top law enforcement officer in the municipality.
The commissioners approved a motion at their Monday night meeting to authorize advertising for the next Chief of Police. Former Police Chief John Hays submitted his retirement request last month.
Interested candidates must have at least 15 years in law enforcement as well as ten years in a command position. Application packets must be received before July 12 followed by interviews of perspective candidates.
Township administrators are also beginning the hiring process to fill an opening for a public works operator with a CDL license.
