The Butler Township Planning Commission has approved a proposal to change how some local properties are zoned.
This proposal focuses on a zoning change from residential to commercial for several properties on Litman Road between Old Plank Road and Route 8. Some commission members expressed hearing concern from some residents about possible uses for the properties.
Properties affected include ones near the Greater Butler Mart as well as the former South Butler Fire Hall which is no longer in use due to the merger of the Township’s volunteer fire companies. A total of 136 property owners who own property within 400 feet of the property that could be rezoned have been notified about the proposed change.
A public hearing will take place September 21st at 7 p.m. at the Butler Township Municipal Building. The Township Commissioners are expected to vote on approving this proposal following the hearing.
