Butler’s Laura Goettler won the state title in the 100-breastroke Thursday at the PIAA Class 3A championships at Bucknell University. She had the top qualifying time – then the PIAA decided to cancel the evening session and awared the top qualifiers titles. Goettler was the only WPIAL swimmer to win a state title before the championships were suspended. It is her second straight state championship.
The 2A championships are part of the state postponements for the next two weeks.
