The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-2 last night at PPG Paints Arena. The Pens were shutout 3-0 through the first two periods before Bryan Rust scored early in the third period. Montreal made the game 4-1 just 15 seconds later. The Penguins final goal came from Erik Karlsson on a power play with five minutes remaining in the game. The game was delayed a half hour because of an accident on the Parkway North.
Canadiens rookie goaltender Jacob Fowler made 33 saves in his NHL debut last night. For the Penguins, Tristan Jarry stopped 25 of 29 shots.
Sidney Crosby had an assist in last night’s game, and is now four points from Mario Lemieux’s franchise scoring record.
The Penguins have now lost three games in a row and host back-to-back afternoon games this weekend with 3pm face-offs. They host the San Jose Sharks Saturday, then host the Utah Mammoths Sunday. Hear Saturday’s game on WISR beginning at 2:30pm.
