A portion of I-79 in Lancaster Township was shut down for a time Thursday after a serious crash.
The accident happened just after 3:30 p.m. in the northbound lane, a few miles north of the Zelienople.
The cause of the accident is still not known, but dispatchers say a vehicle was “split in half.”
Police shut down the northbound lanes of I-79 at the Little Creek Road exit.
At least two people were taken to Pittsburgh trauma centers with injuries.
I-79 reopened around 5:15 p.m.
