The St. Louis Cardinals cruised to a 9-0 opening day victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Adam Wainwright continued his domination of the Bucs. He pitched six scoreless innings, striking out six. He now has 22 career wins against the Pirates, and has pitched 32 consecutive scoreless innings against Pittsburgh.
The Pirates had six hits in the game, but struck out nine times in the game. Yoshi Tstutsugo had two of the Pirates hits. JT Brubaker started for the Pirates. He allowed four earned runs on four hits over three innings.
The teams are off today, and will continue the four-game series Saturday in St. Louis. Both games begin at 2:15pm.
The Pirates home opener is Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs.
