The Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh is modifying a plan to allow for the safe reopening of local Catholic Schools this fall.
After receiving feedback from teachers, a team of school administrative officials has decided to change the start date for elementary students from August 27th to September 8th. High schools will remain on their original opening schedules.
The additional time will allow for teachers to prepare their classrooms as well as practice new protocols, test distance learning systems, and undergo health and safety training. The Diocese of Pittsburgh has also directed schools to limit sports participation to practicing and conditioning in sports-specific groups with no travel to or competition against outside teams.
There are eight Catholic Schools in the Butler County Area including Butler Catholic, Saint Wendelin School, Saint Gregory School in Zelienople, and North Catholic High School in Cranberry.
