The Center for Disease Control (CDC) unveiled a new stop smoking campaign Monday.
It’s called “Tips from Former Smokers” and it highlights the stories of those who quite their habit.
The CDC says that as the number of smokers are decreasing, there has been an increase in menthol smokers.
Dianne Beistle is the chief of the health communications for the CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health, she shares why quitting menthol cigarettes can be more challenging.
“Menthol is added to cigarettes, and it has numbing and cooling properties to make it easier for people to start smoking and harder for them to quit,” Beistle said.
If you would like to attempt to quit smoking the tips hotline is 1-800-quit now.
