The CDC says that in places where there is substantial levels of COVID transmission, masks should be worn in certain situations.
The new guidance says that fully vaccinated people should wear a mask in public indoor settings if transmission levels are high.
However, Lawrence County is the only local county that would qualify under the CDC guidance. Butler County is considered to be in the moderate level of transmission.
Following this announcement, Governor Tom Wolf said he is not considering a statewide mask mandate citing the state’s overall vaccination rate.
