A state program to encourage investment by providing tax credits to businesses that make donations will help local residents struggling with food insecurity.
Through the Charitable Food Program, several regional banks and grocery stores have directed nearly $1.5 million to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
Residents of Butler along with 10 other counties in the region benefit from the efforts of the GPC Food Bank through large-scale mobile distributions as well as emergency food provisions for individuals.
Last year the GPC Food Bank distributed the equivalent of 40 million meals to residents in need.
