Chase Elliott finally earned a victory in the Nascar Cup Series last night by taking the checkered flag at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Elliott was in line to win last Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 until a late caution flag took away that opportunity. He was wrecked the previous Wednesday by Kyle Busch at Darlington Raceway.
Denny Hamlin was the runner-up, followed by Ryan Blaney, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. and Kurt Busch.
Once again, the event was delayed by lightning and rain after it began last night. Mother Nature has interrupted both Wednesday events scheduled so far by Nascar since its return from a layoff.
Because the Cup Series race was postponed until last night, the X-finity Series race set for Saturday at Bristol will move to Monday.
The Cup Series races at Bristol Sunday afternoon. Hear coverage on WBUT 1050am and at wbut.com beginning at 2:30pm.
