Chicora has sworn in a new mayor after the previous mayor did not seek re-election.
After Mayor Dan Mortland did not run again and no one filed to run for the position, it was up to council to select a new mayor.
On Monday night the borough swore in Kimberly Pakutz to the position of mayor.
Pakutz started in the role Tuesday morning and her term will run until January 2029.
