Butler City Council has approved a new contract with the local firefighters’ union.
The five-year agreement with the International Association of Firefighters, Local 114, will run from January 1st of 2020 through the end of 2024.
Changes from the previous contract include an average pay raise of 2% per year (beginning with a 3% raise next year and stepping down annually from that) as well as a revising of necessary training time. Chief Chris Switala was one of the main people involved in negotiating this agreement along with Mayor Ben Smith and former Councilman Corey Roche.
The firefighters union has also recently ratified the deal.
