The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler will receive state grant funding in order to make repairs at a building containing rental apartments.
The Authority was awarded a $500,000 PHARE grant through an application filed last year with the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement Fund for rental rehab work at 330 Virginia Avenue.
Work is expected to include a new roof, porch, doors, windows, steps, hot water heaters, electric wiring, floors, stoves, refrigerators, registers, countertops, faucets, showers, lights, ceilings, paint, plumbing, and smoke detectors. The Authority will add about $20,000 in order to complete all aspects of this project.
A contract is expected to be sent to the authority sometime next week with work expected to begin later this year. The authority has six apartments in that building with two of those currently occupied.
