Butler City Council has chosen the person who will take over as the next city controller.
At their meeting Thursday night, council approved the appointment of Barbara Hall to the position by unanimous vote.
Hall will make $2,500 per year and take over as soon as she has been bonded and sworn into the position. Hall previously spent time as the comptroller of the Butler County Children’s Center from 2000 to 2007.
A couple of different qualified candidates expressed interest in the position after the passing of former City Controller Gretchen Ehlman last month. Hall will finish out Ehlman’s term which runs through January of 2022 and could run for an additional term in the election to be held in November of 2021.
