As part of a process that began early last year, the City of Butler is now receiving feedback from an independent statewide nonprofit on how to improve efficiency and take advantage of funding opportunities.
Under the Strategic Management Planning Program, Pennsylvania Economy League representatives spent time in Butler preparing a five-year Financial and Operational Plan including areas in need of attention as well as opportunities for grants.
The final version of this report was provided to Council Tuesday night including analyzing current systems of operation such as declining property tax revenue due to the last County reassessment in the 1960s.
Pennsylvania Economy League representatives also provided recommendations such as adding a professional city manager to oversee operations of all city departments.
City Council will next formally accept or finalize the draft report possibly as soon as next month before moving into phase two of the program in which the PA Department of Community and Economic Development can help provide funding to prioritize initiatives with a 10% local match.
