Butler City Council has approved a new contract with the local firefighters’ union.
The three-year agreement with the International Association of Firefighters, Local 114, is retroactive from January 1st of this year through the end of 2027.
Changes from the previous contract include a pay raise of 8% in the first year and continuing with a 3% raise the next two next years and more regular hours in exchange for less overtime and an increase in health contributions.
Negotiations took about eight months to complete but both Mayor Bob Dandoy and Councilman Don Shearer praised the agreement as one that provides stability while addressing important issues.
The 18 members of the firefighters union ratified the deal earlier this week.
