The Butler City Police are closer to a fundraising goal for body cameras after a donation by a local organization.
According to Chief Bob O’Neill, the Nonprofit Development Corporation which is associated with the Center for Community Resources provided the city department with a check for $5,000 earlier this week.
The money will be used for the purchase and deployment of body cameras for each Butler City Police officer.
Chief O’Neill has been reaching out to community partners in an effort to meet the fundraising goal of $28,000 to realize the cameras.
The City Police are nearing the end of a 30-day trial pilot body camera program.
