A project to improve a street near a local park is now complete apart from a couple minor finishing touches.
The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler heard an update on Thursday about work done over the past couple of months to replace parts of Kaufman Drive and Lincoln Avenue.
The authority’s engineer and several board members said they were happy with the job done by the contractor, which also improved handicapped access to Father Marinaro Park. A couple of change orders totaling about $7,000 were approved as a result of storm sewer reconstruction and additional limestone needed for the road base.
The contractor will return to reduce the grade between the road and a driveway, as well as post a 15 percent maintenance bond to guarantee the project. The authority will look into the possibility of replacing shrubs that needed to be removed to allow for the work.
