A Butler woman is facing charges after she allegedly started a fire on purpose inside her apartment building.
The incident happened Saturday night around 2 a.m. at an apartment building in the 100 block of East Wayne Street. A fire broke out inside one of the rooms, with investigators saying it started inside a trash can between the stove and kitchen sink.
Police found an open container of matches on the kitchen table.
Through their investigation, police found that 58-year-old Rebacca Allison had threatened to “burn the whole building down” just days prior.
Police say they conducted other interviews with apartment residents and video surveillance linking Allison to the crime.
She was charged with arson and reckless endangerment. Allison was arrested around 8 p.m. Saturday and taken into the Butler County Prison.
