The Pittsburgh Pirates fell to Cleveland 2-1 Sunday afternoon at PNC Park. The Indians scored the game-winning run after manager Derek Shelton pulled starting pitcher JT Brubaker with two outs in the seventh inning. Brubaker allowed two runs on three hits during his outing. He did not walk a batter and struck out nine.
The Bucs are off today and will host the Chicago White Sox for two games beginning Tuesday.
The Pirates have placed reliever Sam Howard on the 10-day Injured List with right knee tendinitis. Howard gave up six earned runs in his outing Friday. The Pirates snapped a 10-game losing streak in that game by winning 11-10 over Cleveland, but blew a 10-1 lead during that game.
The New York Yankees turned their third triple-play of the season, which ties an MLB record. The around-the-horn play Sunday was their second triple play of the week.
