The City of Butler’s Code Enforcement Officer will not be doing another inspection of downtown Butler’s Penn Theater until nearly all of the items in a previous inspection letter have been addressed.
John Evans attended Thursday’s City Redevelopment Authority meeting to address a request that he received to perform another inspection of the property.
The Authority had requested the inspection based on interest in the property from the local Penn Theater Performance Company.
Evans said the only item on the original ‘notice of violation form’ that has been addressed is the roof. Evans provided a picture to the authority of crumbling masonry around a load-bearing I-beam that could compromise structural integrity if brick and mortar gaps are not filled. Evans also mentioned the structure’s basement and electrical work needing to be completed.
According to the Authority, no further conversations have taken place with the WODA group who had expressed interest in developing the Penn Theater property earlier this year.
