Butler County Commissioners pushed off a hiring a deforester contract after questions came up about bidding came up.
A contract was presented to county commissioners for an agreement with Anundson & O’Barto, consulting foresters, to harvest trees and remove sick trees for parts of Alameda Park and the Sunnyview Complex for 10% of the sale price of the timber.
But several commissioners raised concerns about the possibility of not allowing other consulting foresters to bid on the work. The previous contract from 2009 set the price at 10% of the sale price of the timber as well.
But commissioners were still concerned that not allowing public bidding would cause legal issues or complaints. Commissioners asked that at least three consulting foresters be reached for potential bidding.
