Concordia Lutheran Ministries is one of the local organizations adjusting to the difficult circumstances of the coronavirus pandemic.
Most Concordia residents are at increased risk because their age and compromised health.
Dino Capestrani on the Concordia TeleCareGivers program (724-352-6260) which connects volunteers who are willing to talk with those who need someone to speak with:
“For the most part no one is allowed to come in,” Capestrani said. “We have volunteers who call seniors on a regular basis to see if they’re okay.”
“There are certain requirements for that program, but Concordia has waived them. If, by chance, anybody wants to help somebody to communicate and talk to an individual who needs a phone call, they can simply call our office.”
Many residents have been staying busy finding ways to give back to the community during this new situation.
“The Haven apartments will be starting a mask making group as a service project, meaning that the residents themselves are coming together to help build these masks for clinicians to get out,” Capestrani said.
The Concordia organization continues to meet and communicate regularly about the latest developments with coronavirus and how to best keep residents and employees safe.
