Construction costs are continuing to rise and that’s having an impact on a few projects in Butler County.
The county’s Community Development Block Grant coordinator says that the Marion Township waterline project and new Slippery Rock Township Park have both come in over budget.
So the county approved moving $3,000 in excess funding from an Alameda Park project to the waterline construction. And the park will be receiving $34,000 in funds that were leftover from Slippery Rock housing rehab.
Coordinators say increased construction costs have caused the projects to be over budget. For example, they cited a bathroom that was built in 2019, now costs $13,000 more to replicate at the Slippery Rock Township Park.
