Discussions are ongoing about how counties without a health department can be better prepared to handle public health crises.
There have been reports circulating about establishing a regional health department between southwestern counties, but Butler County Commissioners say it’s best to look at all options.
At their public meeting yesterday, the commissioners said that there is a lot of financial and time commitment to running a health department.
They also added that counties are looking at other ways to engage the state Department of Health with emergency responses—with suggestions like potential liaisons to help facilitate communications.
