Butler County has approved an agreement with an attorney to help with a recent lawsuit filed by two voters.
The county will contract with attorney Kathleen Goldman to help handle the suit that was filed after two mail-in ballots were rejected by the county’s Election Board.
Goldman will be receiving $505 per hour for her work. County officials could not estimate how many hours she will be working on the case.
The suit alleges that two voters had their ballots thrown out because they were not in a secrecy envelope. However, the voters tried to cast a provisional ballot at their polling precinct, but the board denied those votes.
The suit was filed in conjunction with the ACLU. The Republican National Committee has also involved itself in the case filing a brief in order to dismiss the suit.
