The Butler County Commissioners have announced that nonessential county personnel will be temporarily furloughed beginning today, however operations will be maintained.
According to Board Chairman Leslie Osche, the decision about proper staffing was made in conjunction with court and elected officials in order to balance employee safety with essential services.
Commissioners Kim Geyer and Kevin Boozel agreed that this is the next step in the process that is going on not only at the county level but also in state and federal governments.
The County expressed appreciation for the patience and cooperation of county staff and the union that represents them.
