A number of Butler County farmers attended a meeting Thursday night to provide feedback to county administrators.
The meeting took place at Founders Hall on the Butler Township campus of Butler County Community College and included County Commissioners Leslie Osche and Kim Geyer as well as state senator Scott Hutchinson and state representative Marci Mustello.
Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau Director Jack Cohen led a discussion about the future of the annual Farm Tour event. A survey will be issued to farmers in the near future asking about new ideas and ways residents might be willing to help.
Other topics of discussion included mental health concerns among farmers as well as ways to bring agriculture education back into local schools. Butler Area School District Assistant Superintendent Dr. Brian Slamecka and Penn State Extension representatives joined in that talk.
