Butler County is preparing to deal with the rapidly spreading coronavirus pandemic.
Administrators with the County’s Emergency Services Department will maintain regular contact with public health officials and health care providers including the Butler Hospital as well as school superintendents and nurses.
Residents are reminded that this is an airborne virus spread like the flu or a cold by close personal contact. Symptoms include fever and cough along with shortness of breath. Symptoms can appear between 2 and 14 days following exposure.
Residents are encouraged to clean surfaces frequently, wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, cover sneezes or coughs with an elbow and not a hand, and avoid large gatherings if confirmed cases exist in the area. Anyone who is sick should stay home.
