Along with the Commonwealth, Butler County has seen an increase in retail theft since 2019.
According to the Pennsylvania Courts Media Resources, Butler County saw nearly 2% increase of all types of retail theft.
After an initial decline in 2020, crime rose about 40 percent in 2023 when there were a total of 730 thefts.
The county that saw the highest amount of retail theft was Allegheny with nearly 13% and saw it increase 91% since 2021.
