Butler County is starting the process of reviewing an agreement with the organization that handles their risk and liability insurance.
The contract with PCORP is being looked at, mainly as a result of the sheriff’s agreement with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency.
PCORP recently decided they would not provide coverage to any suits related to action involving ICE.
This review will also look at other entities in county government like the emergency services unit and HAZMAT team, among others.
The Butler County Sheriff’s office has been assisting with ICE operations through what is known as the 287g agreement. Sheriff Mike Slupe reached the agreement, but it has not been voted on by the county commissioners.
