Cranberry Township is asking residents to take action against an invasive insect.
The spotted lanternfly poses a threat to the agricultural industry due to its ability to destroy grape vines, fruit trees, and other plants.
The movement of outdoor articles like firewood that could harbor the insect to places outside the quarantine area is prohibited. Butler County was added to the quarantine list last winter.
Officials also state that residents can help control the spotted lanternfly population by physical removal, removal of host trees, and pesticide applications. Visit the Penn State Extension website for more information.
