Cranberry officials say they are taking steps to preserve a family farm in the township.
The board of supervisors will be considering an agreement that would see the township become the owner of the former Denton Powell Farm on Goehring Road.
The farm is 150 years old and sits on 71 acres of land.
Township officials say they want to preserve the land as a public asset and operation farm. They also plan to use if for agricultural education.
The agreement came to be after discussions with Cranberry resident Andy Hack, who was the executor of the Powell estate.
