Firefighters were busy with a number of brush and grass fires along railroad tracks in Donegal Township Thursday afternoon.
The calls began coming in to the Butler County 911 Center just before 1 p.m. Thursday for several fires started by a passing train along Chicora, Gameland, and O’Donnell Roads.
Crews from Chicora, Petrolia, Bruin, Oneida Valley, and East Butler were among those called out to the scene to battle several different fires in the area of the tracks.
The railroad company shut down trains in the area while firefighting vehicles were parked on and near the tracks. Crews were able to clear the scene shortly after 3 p.m.
