Multiple crews were involved in battling a blaze at the border of Winfield and Buffalo Township Friday morning.l
The first call came into the Butler County 911 Center around 11 a.m. Dispatchers said three vehicle fuel tanks caught on fire at a salvage yard in the 100 block of Franklin Drive—which is near the former Cooper Station restaurant on Route 356.
The fire started to pick up about 10 minutes later, with dispatchers saying that the fire was really starting to get out of control.
The smoke grew so intense, that it could be seen from at least four miles away.
The intensity of the fire started to calm down around noon—but multiple crews had to remain on scene to help fight the ongoing fire.
Traffic on Route 356 was delayed for a time, as fire trucks were running water from the beginning of Franklin Drive.
It’s unclear what started the fire, or if anyone was injured.
