Firefighters were busy with a number of brush and grass fires along railroad tracks in Center Township Monday afternoon.
The calls began coming in to the Butler County 911 Center just before 2 p.m. Monday for several fires started by a passing train near Pinehurst Road.
Crews from West Sunbury, Unionville, Prospect, Lick Hill, and were among those called out to the scene to battle several different fires in the area of the tracks.
The railroad company shut down trains in the area while firefighting vehicles were parked on and near the tracks. The fires were under control shortly after 4 p.m. and most crews were clear of the scene by around 5.
